Detached Garage With Loft Above - Rhinelander, WI
For this particular project, we used a wide variety of our offered services including creating Construction Plans, 3D Renderings, Project Management, and Design. Our client had so many amazing ideas to share when we first met with them, which made us so excited to get to work!
When it comes to the Garage, there are so many different functions to keep in mind. A garage is used to store vehicles, Christmas decorations, lawnmowers, shovels, tools, boats, and much more. To meet our client’s needs for this project, we were able to designate both “His” and “Hers” separate storage spaces that ultimately presented our clients with their own designated areas in the garage so that they have their separate areas to utilize and store anything they desire. Additionally, we designed a loft space above the garage for them to utilize for their crafting and woodworking projects.
Exterior Siding
The best exterior siding material to use when considering a maintenance-free product is LP Smartside. LP Smartside comes in a variety of colors, textures, and finishes to provide for any design type or aesthetic.
For this project, we selected LP Smartside in the color Chestnut for the Shakes, LP Smartside in the color Chocolate for the Lap Siding, and LP Smartside in the color Oyster Shell for the trim. The color combination of these three finishes provides a quaint contrast that isn’t too harsh yet creates great dimension on the facade of the building.
Garage Doors
Clopay Garage Doors is an extremely trustworthy brand. They can be more on the pricey side, although it is worth it! This style garage door that we selected by Clopay perfectly complemented the Rustic design of the building. As seen above, the finish we selected for the Garage Door is Ultra Grain Oak Dark. Another feature worth noticing is the glass window top panel.
Windows
For the windows, we selected Pella Windows - Lifestyle. We designed the windows to have their Traditional Grill pattern finished in Oil Rubbed Bronze. The Oil Rubbed Bronze finish adds to the Rustic design and complements the brown tone LP Smartside finishes that are trimmed with the creamy, Oyster Shell color.

What do you think of when you think about a standard door to your garage? Oftentimes, we think of a solid door design excluding windows. This is always an option, but when we are trying to create an appeal to an exterior we choose a door that has character. Service Door Design is easily overlooked, but when you think more it truly becomes a staple of a home. A Service Door is ultimately visible from your kitchen window and entry to your home, so why not put some thought into the design? For these reasons, we selected a ½ lite exterior door by Rustica. We love the Rustica brand and the variety of designs they offer!
As for exterior sconce lights, we selected the finish Oil Rubbed Bronze to match the hardware and window grilles. The fixture has a timeless design, not too modern yet not outdated. We also incorporated soffit lighting! Soffit lighting is something that always gets overlooked yet it provides great accent lighting that highlights features of the building’s architecture!
